About This Scholarship

The Stephen Young Global Leaders' Scholarship Programme (SYGL) is a highly prestigious scholarship opportunity at the University of Strathclyde Business School. Created through a historic £50 million donation from alumnus Dr. Charles Huang and the Charles Huang Foundation, this scholarship honours Professor Stephen Young, Dr. Huang's former PhD mentor. The program aims to identify and nurture outstanding students who exhibit the potential to become ethical, impactful leaders in global business and society.

The scholarship is awarded to up to five exceptional candidates each year who are pursuing a full-time, one-year MBA or MSc at the Strathclyde Business School in Glasgow. It provides comprehensive financial coverage, taking care of both tuition fees and living costs. In addition to financial backing, scholars are integrated into the Stephen Young Institute of International Business (SYIIB) community, where they receive elite leadership training, professional mentorship, and access to international educational experiences.

Eligibility Requirements

✔️ Must meet the admissions criteria for the chosen Strathclyde full-time MBA/MSc programme
✔️ Must demonstrate exceptional academic merit (e.g., a first-class UK undergraduate degree or equivalent academic qualification)
✔️ Must be a self-funded student without access to other funding sources (such as corporate sponsorship or alternative scholarships)
✔️ Must be prepared to attend a formal interview (in person or virtually) if shortlisted
✔️ Must apply for an eligible subject (Accounting & finance, Business, Data analytics, Economics, Entrepreneurship, Management, Management science, Marketing)
